Melina & James

Friday, 25 August 2017

James+Melina349 This wedding is close to my heart. I first met Melina months before her wedding, but then got to know her much better as she began working for me here and there as a floral assistant. She is truly the most lovely person and such fun to be around, so I really looked forward to her big day and wanted it to be all her dreams come true (even more than I usually do for each of my beautiful brides!).

But despite the couple and the gorgeous wedding venue being so lovely, the weather was not. The temperature was an icy 4C and sleet-like drizzly rained down. With my handy hubby assistant by my side, we had to abandon the sunny outdoor ceremony idea and think on our toes to create a beautiful indoor floral garland backdrop in the reception barn. Warm festoon lighting intertwined with the florals and it really all came together beautifully.

It was such a privilege to watch my new friend walk down the aisle and say “I do” and be a part of her life story.

When: September 2016
Where: Waldara Farm, Oberon
Photographer: Tim Williams Photography
Flowers: to bring in subtle tones of blue and lavender I worked with ranunculus, delphiniums, anemones, sea holly, eucalyptus, peppercorn, Queen Anne’s lace and hellebores.
What Melina said: “Thank you for everything you did for us on our wedding day… you both went above and beyond for us and words cannot express how grateful we are.”

Cushla & Brendan

Tuesday, 11 July 2017

C&B (214 of 552) On a sunny day at a private farm retreat last December, Cushla & Brendan tied the knot in effortless style. The whole celebration had a feeling over laid-back joy shared with friends and family. Cushla was the most calm and relaxed bride on the morning of the wedding, setting up the ceremony & reception seating and styling with her sister before casually transforming into a beautiful bride.

For the bouquets and ceremony arbour doors I used a mix of open peach and white David Austin roses and lisinathus, paired with silvery eucalyptus and olive branches. Trailing hand-dyed navy silk ribbon from Silk & Willow finished Cushla’s bouquet off prettily.

Venue, props and furniture: Willow Farm, Berry, NSW
When: December 2016
Photographer: Jarrod James
Bride’s gown: A La Robe
Groom’s suit: MJ Bale
Catering: Rabbit & Co. Caterers
What Cushla said: “Just wanted to say a huge thank you again for the stunning flowers you put together for our wedding day. They were perfect. I’m drying out my bouquet so I can keep it!! The arch looked absolutely incredible, thanks so much for all your hard work I know that must not have been easy!”

Jessie & Johnnie

Tuesday, 11 April 2017

JJC561 I first ‘met’ the lovely Jessie over email months before her and Johnnie’s Sydney wedding. They were planning everything online from LA and flying blind as it were, not being able to meet their wedding vendors in person until days before their wedding. They were the loveliest people and I’m so glad they put their trust in me. Johnnie’s Aussie, Jessie’s American, and they planned an Aussie celebration with the Sydney Opera House as backdrop for their nearest and dearest who weren’t able to make their US adventure. Their big day dawned with one of the worst storms I can remember. Battling torrential rain and wind loading beautiful blooms and a cake into the car was a challenge (I slammed my finger in the door somehow, ouch! But managed to arrange those lovely chair garlands with a bandaged hand). Even though the outdoor ceremony plan had to be abandoned (and the Opera House barely visible through the downpour), you couldn’t wipe the smiles from Jessie and Johnnie’s faces. Their love and happiness shone through.

Where: The Park Hyatt
When: June, 2016
Photographer: Tealily Weddings
Celebrant: Married by Lisa

What Jessie said: “Thank you so, so much for bringing our wedding vision to life!  The whole event was a complete success, and so much of that was because of you.  Johnnie and I could not have imagined a more beautiful execution of our wedding dreams. Thank you. All of our guests raved about the flower arrangements and cake.  (Oh, the cake! Yum!). And the colors of the blooms you selected were absolute perfection.  My bouquet and flower crown were exactly what I wanted.  I felt like a beautiful woodland fairy queen, and I loved it! …
Thank you so much for keeping up with our endless overseas emails and last-minute changes and additions, not to mention the crazy weather while you were loading in. What a pro!
You really did and outstanding job.”
