Jessie & Johnnie

Tuesday, 11 April 2017

JJC561 I first ‘met’ the lovely Jessie over email months before her and Johnnie’s Sydney wedding. They were planning everything online from LA and flying blind as it were, not being able to meet their wedding vendors in person until days before their wedding. They were the loveliest people and I’m so glad they put their trust in me. Johnnie’s Aussie, Jessie’s American, and they planned an Aussie celebration with the Sydney Opera House as backdrop for their nearest and dearest who weren’t able to make their US adventure. Their big day dawned with one of the worst storms I can remember. Battling torrential rain and wind loading beautiful blooms and a cake into the car was a challenge (I slammed my finger in the door somehow, ouch! But managed to arrange those lovely chair garlands with a bandaged hand). Even though the outdoor ceremony plan had to be abandoned (and the Opera House barely visible through the downpour), you couldn’t wipe the smiles from Jessie and Johnnie’s faces. Their love and happiness shone through.

What Jessie said: “Thank you so, so much for bringing our wedding vision to life!  The whole event was a complete success, and so much of that was because of you.  Johnnie and I could not have imagined a more beautiful execution of our wedding dreams. Thank you. All of our guests raved about the flower arrangements and cake.  (Oh, the cake! Yum!). And the colors of the blooms you selected were absolute perfection.  My bouquet and flower crown were exactly what I wanted.  I felt like a beautiful woodland fairy queen, and I loved it! …
Thank you so much for keeping up with our endless overseas emails and last-minute changes and additions, not to mention the crazy weather while you were loading in. What a pro!
You really did and outstanding job.”

Tim & Donna

Monday, 04 April 2016

Donna-Tim-0267 copy While it has been just over a year since the lovely Donna and Tim tied the knot, I thought I’d share some beautiful glimpses of their day. Donna’s bouquet has been regrammed, referenced and requested by many a bride and I think it has to be a favourite of mine too…

I first met the lovely Donna and Tim at One Fine Day in 2013 where they were gathering ideas for their big day. Originally from England, the couple planned an intimate weekday wedding for summer 2014 with a lot of their guests making the trip from overseas to celebrate at The Tearoom at Gunners Barracks.

Donna asked to have flowers with a ‘beautiful romantic feel’ using soft pinks and white, with some greenery. She was happy for me to select a range of seasonal blooms to fit her brief and fall within her budget.

After sharing lots of inspiration photos over email and over a coffee catch-up, it was a joy when the wedding day finally arrived. I gathered a range of David Austin and field roses, cosmos, pepper berry and dahlias and trailing asparagus fern for the slightly wild-looking bouquets, a romantic ceremony garland and vintage vessels which I scattered across the reception tables and fireplace with mercury vintage-style tea lights. It was a pleasure to create these whimsical flowers for a romantic wedding.

A red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream icing and fresh flowers was the finishing touch for this beautiful occasion.
