Winter blooms

Wednesday, 25 July 2012

Here’s a little mid-week magic to pick us up. While the chilly weather maybe a bit hit and miss, there’s no reason winter should equal dreary flowers. One of my favourite things about the season is sweet peas. This beautiful flower is in full bloom and living up to its name – smelling sweet. And there are so many beautiful floral combinations it can be incorporated into. I’ve added some soft pink sweet peas to this lush bouquet to add a soft, feathery texture and colour. The deep fuschia sim carnations – a cheaper and winter alternative to peonies – add a rich colour. Then dark red and light pink roses bring the look together. Enjoy…

Let there be cake!

What a big gateau-filled weekend. First there was the cute coral and white frill cake for Annabel and Simon’s  wedding at Athol Hall in Mosman. The couple went for a charming DIY-style theme featuring bright coral and cornflower blue tones, bunting and bright multi-coloured flowers. Then there was Amy and Antony’s engagement cake. Amy decorated her venue with a beautiful selection of pale pink candles, organza table runners and sweet white “LOVE” signs. So a pale pink cake with gold-tipped white sugar roses fitted in nicely with the theme. And that was just Saturday! Congrats to both couples and may they have many sweet days to come…
